If you love me, then you might as well become my destination

Should I offer you a bouquet of flowers, or a breath of air? One may embody love, the other, need.

But which of the two messages is the one I truly wish to send you?

I want you to know that you are my air. And so, I shall become the flower capable of holding you.

It is often said that relationships must be watered with love; yet between drought and abundance, we also need a pause: a space in which to fade gently away, and to return just as gently.

That pause is the space we grant to love’s imagination. We turn our backs on each other, each following our own path. I imagine you, you imagine me.

And perhaps one day — or perhaps never — we will find our way back to one another.

Thus, the destination becomes a chance encounter after a long detour.

All the roads of life are blank pages, signposts awaiting inscription. And if, by some chance, we became each other’s destination, then, looking back, we would realise that with every breath, with every moment of life, all roads had already led to you.

You know, there are those sealed jars that preserve the air of a place once visited, as a  keepsake of a journey’s end. If you were my destination, I would wish to become such a jar, one that holds your breath.

Before the air fades away completely, I beg you, let me fill myself with a little more of you.
