The steel body is paired with rounded aluminum wire details, introducing a subtle lightness into its structure. Over time and with use, the surface will gradually develop marks unique to you, adding depth to its texture. The understated embossed DULTON logo at the center does not seek attention, yet clearly reflects its industrial origin.

Thinking about “what to place” and “where to place it” is itself part of the pleasure this tray brings.

About DULTON
DULTON was founded in 1989 by Yasuaki Sasamoto(笹本安昭)
Born in 1952, Sasamoto was trained in architecture and lived in the United States from 1975 to 1977. This experience deeply shaped his understanding of the relationship between tools, materials, and everyday life, forming the foundation of DULTON’s distinctive style. Before founding DULTON, he designed products for home goods and Swiss watch brands, developing a strong sensitivity to structure, proportion, and function.
These experiences ultimately converged into a clear belief:
design does not need to pursue ultimate convenience, it should allow people to rediscover the pleasure of using objects themselves.
DULTON is known for its distinctive American industrial vintage aesthetic, skillfully combining materials such as metal, iron, wood, and glass with clean lines and high-saturation colors to create objects that are both functional and full of character. Its design language blends the intuitive ruggedness of American style with the meticulous attention to detail found in Japanese craftsmanship, both tool-like and playful at once.
From metal trash cans and industrial storage boxes to magnetic soap holders, timers, and various everyday objects, DULTON products often feature rounded edges, modular structures, and bold color palettes. These elements transform everyday items from background utilities into noticeable presences within a space.
DULTON’s core is not about “decorating life,” but about making life tangible again through objects themselves.
This is why DULTON products are widely used in cafés, select shops, and workspaces, they are durable, direct, and carry a sense of time, while allowing repeated use and the traces of wear to become part of their character.
And that is precisely why Commonplace has chosen DULTON.
